June 20 Daily Prayer & Update

Today’s Prayer – June 20

by Fr. Pete Literal, Pastor

Abba, Father in heaven, amazing and loving God, we rejoice today for the grace of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, whose feast we celebrate today. Yesterday, You gave us the sacred day to reflect on the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Your Son, showing us how the Heart of Jesus was pierced on the cross because of His love for You and us. Today we celebrate a Mother’s heart, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, revealing to us how her heart was also pierced in pain and sorrow because of her love for Your will, for Jesus, her son, and for us.

We praise You, Father, and thank You for giving us Jesus, who loves us at all cost, and the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose love is a living example for us of how we can love You in a sacrificial way. We rejoice today for the exemplary life of the Blessed Mother, revealing to us her joy and sorrow, her virtues and hidden perfections, and above all her virginal love for You, Father and her maternal love of Jesus and compassionate love for all of us.

As Mother Mary and Joseph searched for Jesus when He got lost, many of us feel the same anxiety that they had felt, when we also realize that Jesus is nowhere to be found in our lives; that we see ourselves so distant from Him. Although we believe in Jesus, there are times in our lives, that we find it hard to see Him or experience Him. We never doubt of His love; but please help us, that when we are in this same situation, we can act like Mary – composed and confident and reflective – “Mary kept all these things in her heart.”

Help us see and understand the work of the Holy Spirit being done in our lives. Help us cultivate a deep understanding of Mary’s heart that within our heart as well, the fullness of Your grace may emanate, and Your purpose will be fulfilled according to Your will.

We ask these through Christ, Our Lord and Savior.
