This Week’s Sunday Gospel Reflection
Contemplation from Lectio Divina
What conversion of mind, heart, and life is the Lord asking of me?
Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.
When was the last time I shared my faith with someone? What opportunities for sharing my faith have I missed?
These signs will accompany those who believe.
How can people tell that I am a person of faith? How does my faith shape my daily life?
But they went forth and preached everywhere.
Where is God calling me to go? What holds me back from following Jesus more closely?
COVID-19 Protocol Update
The requirement to wear face masks at all times remains in effect.
Social Distancing Reduced from 6 feet to 3 feet
In light of Governor Larry Hogan’s recent executive order lifting capacity restrictions, the Archdiocese of Baltimore is taking an incremental approach to increasing church capacity. As such, beginning this weekend, we will move forward with reducing the social distancing requirement from 6 feet to 3 feet between congregants from different households.
When you arrive for Mass this weekend, you will notice that the ribbons blocking off every other pew have been removed. You may sit anywhere in the church, so long as you maintain 3 feet of social distance in all directions. As you choose your seat, please be mindful to sit in a “checkerboard pattern” so that you are not sitting directly in front of or behind members from other households.
In addition, congregational singing is now permitted. While we are not yet able to return hymnals to the pews, you may access the songs via the Worship Music Resource available on our website here.
The offertory collection will also resume via long-handled baskets that ushers/volunteers will pass in and out of the pews.
These lowered restrictions will be available as long as the Maryland community transmission rates remain low and the percentage of vaccinated individuals continues to rise. We encourage you to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Updated guidance will be shared as it becomes available.
Principal & Pastor Duct-Taping
On Monday, May 17, from 2:15-3:15 PM, our pastor, Fr. Pete, will be duct-taped to a tree by the flagpole in front of the school, along with principal Chrissy Blake.
By class, students will add their own strip of colorful duct-tape to suspend the principal and pastor, who will remain suspended through dismissal so that families can wave as they leave for the day. We encourage you to watch the live-stream of the event on Facebook (if you must see in-person, you may drive past at school dismissal).
Thank you to everyone who helped the school raise more than $43,000 for their Race for Education!
Pentecost is May 22-23
To symbolize the fire that rested over the heads of the first disciples as the Holy Spirit gave them the power to proclaim the Gospel, we encourage you to wear the color red to all Masses May 22-23.
Please also note that there will be music for this special Solemnity at the 11:30 AM Mass on May 23, whether indoors or out.
