Today’s Prayer – June 6
by Fr. Pete Literal, Pastor
Abba, Father in heaven, Generous and Loving God, we praise You and thank You for giving us the amazing glimpse into Your wonderful heart. You look at the love and trust of a giver, instead of the monetary value of what they give. In the story of the poor widow’s offering in the Gospel, You affirmed to us that what matters is the motivation of our hearts. As the poor widow humbly gave from her heart, shape our lives into humble and generous givers from our hearts. You affirm to us that You see all, inside and out.
O God, You are everything to us. Help us keep our focus on You. We praise You and thank You, not only for Your mercy, but also for the gift of justice You bestow on the world. Looking at the many challenges of life, we pray for Your mercy and Your justice to reign in our world and communities, especially during this time of pandemic and civil disturbance and violence. We lift up to You the healing and salvation of our cities, that are currently besieged by the viruses of violence and racism, in addition to the coronavirus. Deliver our nation and cities from the spirit of prejudice and hate. Help us remember that You are the God of justice and everything we have is on loan from You.
As our lives and skills are meant to be used for Your purpose, direct the hearts of all towards using their abilities and resources for Your glory, instead of causing destruction and pain to others. Help us to see things the way You see them and to be generous enough to share mercy and forgiveness. Live and act in us so that the good we do may bear fruit for eternal life.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.
Pray the daily Sacred Scripture and be transformed in spirit and truth.
