Welcome to St. John’s!

Rev. Pete D. Literal, Pastor

Welcome to St. John the Evangelist Church, the oldest Church in Baltimore County, and a faith community with great historical beginnings.

As pastor, I welcome you to our website to learn about St. John the Evangelist Church, particularly the faith life and pastoral programs that are available to both young and old. On this website, you’ll learn more about St. John the Evangelist Church, from our history to our present life as a faith community.

I personally encourage you to come and join us in all our activities, so that you may experience the warmth and welcoming spirit of our parish in Long Green Valley and the many programs that can be sanctifying and transforming for you and your family. We are proud of our people, who are united as a faith community on a spiritual journey, as well as committed to service through different ministries that give witness to God’s call of personal renewal, discipleship, and faith community building. You will discover the programs we offer are meant to intentionally create a culture of encounter with God.

Join us in our vibrant celebration of the Word God and Eucharist, the Spirit-filled praises and songs in worship, and the spiritually-transforming opportunities to encounter God through Sacraments and faith-enrichment activities. We seek to build strong minds and a deep spiritual foundation into the lives of our young people through St. John School, a nationally-recognized Blue Ribbon School in 2017 by the U.S. Department of Education, and through our Religious Education and Youth Ministry programs.

I want to personally meet you and your family this coming Sunday to join us in our community celebration of the Eucharist.

Now is the time to come home!

To join the parish, please complete the Parish Registration Form, then call the parish office at 410-592-6206 to learn more about our Welcome Sundays for new parishioners.
