Today’s Prayer – May 30
by Fr. Pete Literal, Pastor
Abba, Father in heaven, most high and loving God, we come today praising You with joy, for You are a loving God, who gave us Jesus, who calls each one of us by name to follow Him. As Peter understood that the beloved disciple of Jesus is the one who follows Him, we declare our desire to follow Jesus, Your Son. We call on You to bless us with wisdom and inspiration that we may serve You with love and joy.
Yes, we thank You for Your call, for allowing us to share in the works of Jesus, John, and Paul, and for sharing the good news of what Jesus has done for our world. We thank You for the works of Paul, the great disciple, though he never met Jesus in his earthly ministry, he understood and trusted His words. Make us true followers of Jesus, solely concerned in building your reign and promoting the teachings of Jesus in our world.
We are filled with joy, because You continue to choose us as Your own and dwell among us in our sorrows as in our joys. We are sorry, for at various points in our lives we are lost by concerns in our world, family, and our work. Like Peter, there are times that our attention is sidetracked by pride and selfishness. Even now, the danger of pandemic has put a “halt” to everything in our lives. So be with us at times like this, and rescue us from the difficult crossroads of life we face. We are placed to choose between Your sacred word or our own human survival.
Please empower us with Your Spirit, that we may know the way of Jesus is the only way to life. Dwell in us so that our will remains strong and faithful to You. Bring joy in our hearts and clarity in our minds to know what You wish to declare through us. Grant us courage and strength that we may remain firm in doing what is right, good, and fair. Clearly set our lives to remain faithful to Your call and never ever abandon the path You placed for us to walk on.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.
Pray the daily Sacred Scripture and be transformed in spirit and truth.
